Cucumber Lime Martini

Cucumber Lime Martini ~ Cucumber vodka, fresh squeezed lime, and simple syrup make for a seriously refreshing cocktail.Cucumber Lime Martini ~ Cucumber vodka, fresh squeezed lime, and simple syrup make for a seriously refreshing cocktail ~ The Complete SavoristDarla, my dear friend, and I were perusing the shelves at our local state-controlled liquor store (this is Utah, we have to go to a designated place), she was stocking up for her holiday parties and well, I was just stocking up.  We were at the vodka section, which I didn’t need, when we spied cucumber vodka.

That bottle quickly made its way to the cart-her section. I wanted to try it, but I hate buying new liquors and liqueurs without having first tried them in a drink. But Darla always has my back that way; she will happily work out a recipe with a new item. I am quite envious of her mixology skills. I am a beginner, she is advanced, but not quite bartender stage yet…but we all should have goals.

When she handed me this cocktail, it was love at first sip. I knew three things from that first sip: 1. I would be buying my own bottle of cucumber vodka very soon. 2. I would recreate this, with her permission, and share it with all of you 3. I would be buying my own bottle of cucumber vodka very soon.  Oh did I already say that?Cucumber Lime Martini ~ Cucumber vodka, fresh squeezed lime, and simple syrup make for a seriously refreshing cocktail ~ The Complete SavoristThe first time she made this, she used prepared limeade instead of the fresh squeezed lime juice and simple syrup, which is what we used the second time we made it. Therefore, if you want to to use prepared limeade, go for it, just add 3 oz and omit the fresh lime juice AND simple syrup.

Enjoy and sip responsibly.

Oh this sounds so refreshing. It makes me want this winter to get over, like yesterday. But the timing of this is perfect, I have to host a few ladies of a board that I sit on and I was hoping to have a signature cocktail to serve! Thanks!

I have a mixologist friend like that too. She would love this! I have yet to have a cocktail she made that I didn’t like. And I make her taste test all of mine. LOL. Not that she minds… Can’t wait to try this!

These sound perfect for a hot summer day. Which did you prefer, the lime/simple syrup or the prepared limeade? Was there a noticeable difference? I bet this would make a great frozen drink too!

There was a slight difference. The limeade was a bit sweeter and more pulpy. I drank them each in different settings. Limeade was during a party with lots of appetizers and nibbles, making it easier to swig many. The simple syrup was with a meal and a bit dryer. You’re spot on about it being great frozen. I’ll try that when I’m not frozen.

I have had a spicy cucumber drink a few years ago but that was made from juicing cucumbers (which reminds me, I should make that too-it has a fresno chili in it).

How funny–I didn’t realize other states had that same law where liquors needed their own separate store! (it was like that growing up in Massachusetts too!) This cucumber lime martini look incredible! I am totally going to make this for our next girls’ night in!

For the longest time, I thought Utah was the only repressive state, I since learned that near half have some kind of weird laws regarding alcohol. From what I understand Pennsylvania is just as bad as Utah.
