Bandaged Fingers Halloween Hot Dogs

Bandaged Fingers Halloween Hot Dogs – Creepy looking hot dogs cut into fingers, wrapped in delicious crescent rolls and covered in ketchup.

Hot dogs cut to look like fingers wrapped in crescent rolls to appear like bandages drizzled with ketchup for blood.

I love Halloween!  Like LOVE.  I love Christmas as much as the next person, but Halloween is pure fun.  Decorations, fun costumes, begging for candy, I mean life can’t get any better.

How to make hot dogs look like bandaged fingers for Halloween?

These are really easy to make. The first time I made them, my then 4-year got in on the action.

Hot dogs carved to look like fingers wrapped in bandages made from crescent rolls drizzled in ketchup for blood.

I cut the nail beds with a paring knife by making a box at the top and side of one end. Once the box was formed, I slipped the knife under the casing to slice it away from the meat. (See notes on how to use the excess ‘nail bed’ casings).

If you want, you can slice notches into the hot dogs giving the appearance of knuckles. They may or may not show through once wrapped and baked. I sliced some ‘just in case.’

The easiest way to make the bandage strips is to use a pizza cutter. Open the package, lay the dough out flat and roll away.

Crescent roll wrapped hot dogs with drizzled ketchup on a foil-lined tray ready to bake.

My daughter had fun adding ketchup and helped with wrapping them up. There’s no need to be overly precise when wrapping them up, we want them to have a haphazard look once done.

I love hotdogs, so making Bandaged Fingers Halloween Hot Dogs was just too much to pass up, even if they are a bit creepy.

These would be great for dinner right before your kiddos head out to trick or treating or if you’ve got a Halloween party to host/attend. Bandaged Fingers Halloween Hot Dogs are destined to freak out everyone.

Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs 10 count is fine too
  • 8 oz crescent rolls
  • cooking spray
  • ¼ cup ketchup more or less as needed

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 375°F

  2. Using a paring knife, slice a square into the top of each hotdog.

  3. Pull the casing off, exposing the meat. (see notes for using the casings)

  4. Slice notches throughout the hotdog to look like knuckle joints; set aside.

  5. Separate the crescent dough and slice it into thin strips.

  6. Wrap 2-4 strips around each hotdog (the strip lenghts very) to resembly poorly applied bandages.

  7. Repeat this for each hotdog.

  8. Place each “finger” on the sprayed baking tray.

  9. Squirt ketchup in strategic spots along the “bandages” and “finger.”

  10. Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the dough has turned golden brown.

  11. Add more ketchup to enhance the “still bleeding” look.

  12. Serve, and creepily enjoy.

Recipe Notes

To look like they’re severed, slice off the bottom of the non-nail side of the hot dog.

Slice the cut off casings into strips and use a toothpick to push them into the newly cut bottom of the hot dog to look like flesh, tendons, and such hanging/dangling from the ‘finger’

My daughter walked up behind me while I was reading this and that they were real. She wanted to know why you’d actually eat real fingers. They are life like and fun for Halloween parties. I love Christmas too, but Halloween is so much fun.

I don’t usually comment on recipes, or especially recipes that are as much a craft as a recipe, but I love Halloween too and those are positively perfect. Love them scary little fingers…munch munch. Cheers

Totally gross, Michelle! I dig it, though, and now have them on my recipe list. Even better would be to make these on April 8, May 9 or today, when a severed finger isn’t part of the party plan!
